“I’m mellow and cool in the hallways, but football is where I channel and exert my energy on the field.”

Recently, HawkTalk journalists had the amazing opportunity to interview Coach Woolridge.  As an HHS alumnus, Coach Woolridge graduated in 2000 and has returned not only to educate and positively influence students but to coach our football team as well. For those who may not know, he is a kindhearted family man who has been coaching for almost ten years.

Coach Woolridge has always loved football; however, being a head coach was not something he ever thought seriously about. When the opportunity to coach at Hardaway arose, he could not refuse the offer. Believe it or not, when Coach attended Hardaway, Mr. Bell was one of the football coaches. Coach Woolridge previously worked with the Hardaway football team as an assistant coach working under Coach Battle. Now, as head coach he molds our team and encourages them to be the best young men that they can be, win or lose. Before games, he gets them focused by not doing a heap of talking during the pregame meals. He makes sure that the players’ heads are in the right place before they step out onto the field. He also truly loves the players! Woolridge is a tough coach, but he makes sure that the players know that he cares about them outside of football.

Coach Woolridge is hopeful that the team makes the playoffs this year, and maybe later on even bring home a region title. He is truly passionate about what he does, and we are proud to have him back. Let’s go New Hardaway!
