Hardaway Cross Country Team Set for a Good Year

Every school year we are given a list of choices for extracurricular activities and this year was no exception.

One of the Fall sports that you mind be interested in is cross country.

This year’s HHS XC team is filled with newcomers and returning veterans, and naturally we are all wondering how our cross-country team will stack up this year.

I spent some time talking with Edward Miller one of the current athletes on the Hardaway cross-country team asking about how it feels running competitively.

“Pretty fun, I wasn’t really used to the competition until I  got here, but now I feel pretty good about it.”

Dedication and pushing through adversity are keys to success in XC, but safety is always a consideration  especially with the heat. Other hazards like lightning can bring a halt to a meet, but runners keep it pushing if it is just rain according to Edward Miller!

Edward hopes to see Hardaway XC advance to State as they have for the last three years.

Porschia Muhammad, current manager of the cross-country team, said: “I didn’t know what to expect but it has been interesting working with the team.”

“As the season continues, the runners will become faster and their times will improve.”

Come out and support the XC team October 9th @ Kinnett Stadium and October 16th for the Muscogee County City Championship.

Hope to see you in the stands!
