Valentine’s Day <3 What I am doing and what I think of the holiday..

To me, Valentine’s Day is just another day. I honestly do not understand the concept of this holiday. I think it is an excuse for women to get gifts, and they make men feel obligated to get those gifts. The whole day to me is a waste of money. No man or women should be spending money on gifts in honor of this day!

This is one of the worst holidays made. One legend contends that Valentine was a priest who served during the third century in Rome. Valentine, realizing the injustice of the decree, defied Claudius and continued to perform marriages for young lovers in secret. When Valentine’s actions were discovered, Claudius ordered that he be put to death. Other stories suggest that Valentine may have been killed for attempting to help Christians escape harsh Roman prisons, where they were often beaten and tortured. Before his death, it is alleged that he wrote her a letter signed “From your Valentine,” an expression that is still in use today. Based on this information people have put a twist on this day. It’s supposed to be about a man helping Christians escape. Now it’s to show your significant other how much you love them.

This weekend I will personally be celebrating Valentine’s Day even though I did not want to. I told my girlfriend not to buy me anything, but she did anyway. So I had to buy her stuff as well. I really do not feel like celebrating, but I do not want her to feel some type of way, so I am just going to suck it up. We will just be going out to eat. We were going to see a movie, but my mom is seeing that with me.

So just out to eat for us.  What about you?
